Oceanographic forcing of marine pelagic ecosystem dynamics and biogeochemistry.

This WG is jointly organized by the Palmer, Antarctica (PAL) and California Coastal Ecosystem (CCE) sites but anyone is welcome to attend and contribute. The main objective is to explore the roles of physical forcing by ocean currents and upwelling in regulating ecosystem, population and biogeochemical  processes in two contrasting marine pelagic systems. The WG will consist of presentations by site scientists (PIs, students, postdocs) and discussion. Future cross-site comparisons and targeted research may be planned. PAL and CCE are closely related in marine physical dynamics and plankton ecosystem composition and we have similar instrumental and observational approaches, but we have never met together to explore possible collaborations. Other sites with marine or freshwater pelagic components are encouraged to attend and contribute.
