The goal of North Temperate Lakes (NTL) LTER program is to gain a comprehensive understanding of lakes and lake districts at longer and broader scales than has been traditional in limnology. We employ long-term observations, comparisons, experiments, and diverse modeling and statistical approaches to understand changes in these social-ecological systems. Here, we highlight our broad framework for studying lakes in the landscape and provide examples of ongoing projects that demonstrate different ongoing areas of investigation.
