Official ASM Photos Continuing the tradition from 2012, the 2015 LTER ASM included a hilarious session involving “Lightning Round” plenary presentations.
Each LTER site, including two external sites, were allowed two minutes and two slides to introduce their site science.
Here the Florida Coastal Everglades LTER (FCE) group sings a song for their Lightning Round entry.
"Creepin In" Lyrics
Sung to "Creepin In" by Norah Jones
1. There’re big ol’ holes
Right under the ground.
Sea moves in!
Sawgrass then retreats
In the mangroves now they meets.
They only got one thing left to do...
Chorus:
Creep on in
Creep on in
And once it has begun
Won't stop until it's done
Sneaking in
2. There’s a big ol’ storm
Blows right through the marsh.
Trees fall down!
But nutrients come in
And they grow right back again.
They just keep…creepin on in
Chorus
3. There’s a big gator
Swims 5 miles each day,
Out to sea!
Comes back every night
So says our satellite.
And he just keeps…creepin on in
Chorus
4. There’s the deep ol’ peat
Deep carbon reservoir.
Now breaks down!
So do algal mats
Now where’s that carbon at?
This is all just…creepin on in
Chorus
5. Now a big ol’ bridge
Let’s water back in.
Freshwater!
Will it be enough?
We are modeling this stuff!
Will it all still…keep creepin on in?
Chorus
